The major projects of Metsähallitus include planning of management of wide areas and developing nature conservation and nature tourism. The management plans are regularly updated together with the public and stakeholders. Parks & Wildlife Finland is a unit of Metsähallitus, acting yearly in about hundred projects ranging from international co-operation to maintaining valuable old buildings. We benefit from financing from the European Union i.g. in projects enhancing nature conservation and sustainable nature tourism. The largest ongoing projects led by Parks & Wildlife Finland are financied from the EU LIFE fund. Biodiversea LIFE IP — for Marine Nature
Biodiversea LIFE IP (2021–2029) is the largest collaborative project carried out in Finland to safeguard the biodiversity of the Baltic Sea. The main aim of the project is to enhance the protection of marine nature and promote the sustainable use of natural resources in the marine and coastal areas of Finland.
The LIFE project restores important habitats in the Finnish coastal areas and archipelago, such as sunlit habitats, coastal meadows, groves and pasturage.
LIFE ENABLE Project
The project will use a blended learning approach to build capacities in core competencies required for Natura 2000 and Protected Area managers.
