Metsähallitus’s Metsa.fi webpage is open to all and provides information on Metsähallitus’s organisation, activities and current issues.

Data collection

Metsa.fi does not collect information on users other than through feedback forms; the user may, if they wish, leave their contact details if a response to the feedback is desired.  The following personal data can be provided on the feedback form: name, location, e-mail address, telephone number.

Data processing and disclosure

The data collected on the feedback form is transferred to the feedback database in Metsähallitus’ environmental and quality system. Personal data is not disclosed to parties outside Metsähallitus, and the data is only processed inside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Data storage

The personal data provided in conjunction with feedback is stored for as long as necessary for the purpose of feedback processing at Metsähallitus.

Data protection

The protection of the Metsa.fi webpages complies with best practices in data protection, current legislation and regulations, and supplementary instructions issued by Metsähallitus. Access rights are used to restrict use of the system to only those individuals that require the data for their work.

Use of cookies

The Metsä.fi Internet service uses cookies and other equivalent technologies, such as browser local storage. Cookies are small text files used for communication between the terminal’s browser and the server. Cookies and other identifiers have a set period of validity, after which the browser removes the identifier. We use these technologies for carrying out our activities and for analytics.

If desired, the user may change their browser settings to prevent the creation of cookies or to delete the cookies saved in the browser. This may, however, inhibit the functioning of the webpages.

The data used by analytics is anonymised wherever possible. Where this is not possible, we process the data as personal data for those aspects where the identifier contains data that identifies the customer, such as an IP address. Identifiers which are in some way connected to the customer are also processed as personal data. The period of validity for identifiers used for analytics ranges from 30 seconds to 24 months.

We make use of Google Analytics to analyse the use of our webpages. The data sent to Google is anonymised. Further information on data processing by Google Analytics.

Users can block the use of identifiers used for analytics by turning on the browser’s Do Not Track function and setting the browser to reject third-party cookies.

General statistical data is collected on the use of the online service for the purpose of service development. The following statistical data is collected about the use of the service: total number of visitors and page views, number of sessions and average length of sessions, repeat visitors and first-time visitors, web address used to connect to the website, most used search words, most popular webpages, terminals used, browser versions and most common service providers. No personal data is collected about users of online services which could be used to identify individual visitors. The statistically collected data cannot be linked together. Rights of the data subject

The data subject has the right to access the data held by the controller concerning him or her, the right to request the rectification of imprecise and incorrect data, and the right to restrict processing of this data for the period when its veracity is being confirmed. The data subject also has the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority regarding actions carried out in the processing of his or her personal data.
