Parkkima, Pyhäjärvi

Parkkima is a large, currently unzoned area located near Lake Pyhäjärvi, offering strong potential for electricity‑intensive industrial operations. The site’s proximity to the railway and the planned new power grid infrastructure provide a solid foundation for long‑term development.

Area description

Project Parkkima consists of a 100-hectare area located 10 km from Pyhäjärvi and 160 km from Kokkola, with the nearest residential area about 1.5 km from the site. A railway line runs south to the project site.

The site is not yet zoned. We are developing the area in cooperation with the City of Pyhäjärvi.

Given the proximity to Pyhäjärvi, excess heat sales opportunities could be explored.

The Murtoperä 400 kV substation is to be built about 15 km from the project site (expected by 2032), with a grid capacity of c. 2-3 GW.

The Lahdenperä substation operated by Fingrid is planned to be located along the transmission corridor approximately 10 km to the west, towards Haapajärvi. Its environmental impact assessment (EIA) is currently underway.

Another data center initiative is undergoing zoning in the area, but grid capacity is expected to be sufficient for both projects. A grid connection agreement could be ready for signing in 2029.

There are several renewable energy projects in the vicinity of the area.
