Välikangas, Liperi
Välikangas is an industrial area located in Ylämylly, Liperi, offering strong conditions for energy‑ and infrastructure‑intensive operations in close proximity to Joensuu. Zoning for the area is currently in progress, and the site has ready access to municipal infrastructure as well as existing electricity distribution infrastructure.
Area description
Project Välikangas consists of 35-hectare land plot located at Liperi, Ylämylly and 9 km from Joensuu, with the nearest residential area about 30 m from the site border.
The project area zoning process (detailed plan) is underway. TY building rights 100 000 k-m2. Located on groundwater basin.
The land area is close to municipal utilities given its close proximity to Ylämylly (Liperi). The proximity of Ylämylly provides an excellent opportunity for excess heat utilization together with utility and water system availability.
Area is located right next to Fingrid’s 400 kV Huutokoski-Kontiolahti grid enforcement plans. Existing grid connection capacity available c. 100 MW, with the closest 110 kV Fingrid substation (Kontiolahti) located about 10 km away from the site. PKS Sähkönsiirto Oy substation is on the site.
