Summer is over and autumn, with all its routines, lies ahead of us. During the summer, the Korsnäs offshore wind project had the pleasure of meeting many of you at various local events.
It has been an eventful couple of months. The Vind Café at the end of May was followed by the Tomato carnival in Närpes and, most recently, the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Kvarken world heritage site at the Molpe strandpaviljong. At these events, we showcased, among other things, a pair of VR goggles that realistically simulate what the offshore wind farm planned by Vattenfall and Metsähallitus would look like. The visualisations were created from viewpoints at the Bergö ferry terminal, Storkors fishing harbour and Blaxnäs.
In addition to the many visitors who wanted to try the VR goggles, we had numerous valuable discussions about the project. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to talk with us.
At the end of May, we opened a new joint project office at the Korsnäs municipal hall. The Vattenfall and Metsähallitus office is located to the right when entering through the main entrance. You are warmly welcome to visit us on Tuesdays between 09:00 and 15:30. At the office you can obtain useful information about the project, and of course also try the VR goggles.
On the personnel side, we are pleased to announce that Metsähallitus wind power expert Kukka-Maaria Kallio has returned to the project. She will continue Anna Lehto’s work with stakeholders.
Within the project itself, the extensive environmental studies continue as planned. During summer, aerial bird monitoring has been carried out as part of the ongoing work to gather knowledge about the area’s natural values. During the summer, Vattenfall and Metsähallitus also submitted statements to the government’s ongoing revision of the Water Act, regarding the parts about offshore wind power.
We look forward to the opportunities the autumn will bring and invite everyone to visit our office during the open house event announced below. We would like to wish all Korsnäs residents, summer residents and other interested stakeholders a wonderful start to the autumn season.
