Saariselkä in far north
Saariselkä is located far away in the north, and that makes it a very special place! The Saariselkä tourism centre borders on Urho Kekkonen National Park. Nature and natural phenomena, such as the northern lights, create a unique atmosphere that has led to rapid growth in international tourism, especially from Asia. The airport is less than half an hour away. The master plan and local detailed plan for Saariselkä and the surrounding area include a construction area for programme services, restaurants, hotels and other tourism services.

Hotel Kaunispää - A hotel plot at the base of the fell
The plot is located at the base of the fell in the heart of the tourism centre, near the services and right beside the slopes.
Isomus - A 5-star hotel plot in the town centre
This plot is located in the middle of the village and has space for a 5-storey hotel with views to the ski slopes and/or Urho Kekkonen National Park.
Saariselkä slope area
The quarter areas 315, 317 and 320 border on the ski slopes and can be combined into a hotel plot.
Saariselkä town centre - Jokostie
This hotel plot is located right in Saariselkä town centre, at the highest point of the village. Building rights for 10,000 square metres. The plot has six terraced houses with tenants. A section of the plot can be parcelled out.
Other existing commercial or tourism service plots in the Saariselkä and Inari area.
The Laanipalo plot area is located just a couple of kilometres from the services in Saariselkä. The area has seven plots designated for tourism construction. The plots can also be leased.
A quiet plot on the shore of Lake Pitkäjärvi between Ivalo and Saariselkä, close to the airport and services. The plot is ideal as a programme services area and/or construction related to northern lights tourism. It has building rights for 3,000 square metres. A local detailed plan is required for the area if construction exceeds 500 square metres.
Saariselkä town centre, Kiveliöntie
Two commercial plots, 1,000 square metres/plot. Located between Highway 4 and Kiveliöntie beside other commercial premises. Office and commercial premises can be built on the plots.
The component master plan for Ukonjärvi includes a tourism construction plot located right beside Highway 4 on the shore of Lake Ukonjärvi. A local detailed plan for the plots is required before construction can begin.

Saariselkä is easy to get to by plane, bus or your own car. The nearest airport with international service is in Ivalo, less than half an hour away. The Arctic Ocean, Norway and Russia are just a few hours away by car. It’s about 260 km from the Arctic Circle and Rovaniemi.
The master plan for the Ivalo region (1,2,3) is progressing. The plan will include shoreline construction sites on the southern shore of Nangunvuono Fjörd on Lake Inarijärvi.
A tourism service area (RM) is being planned around the boat harbour at Nangunniemi. Another area for tourism use is planned for Konkeloniemi on the shore of Nelliminvuono Fjörd.
The master plan area has an area for construction related to gold prospecting tourism, which is located on Kutturantie road in Haminanharju (Ivalo district, Kuttura). It includes a small-scale construction related to gold prospecting tourism area (RA-3) and a holiday centre and cottage village construction area (RM). A local detailed plan is required if construction exceeds 500 square metres.
The Kakslauttanen area still has plenty of unused building rights for commercial accommodation activities. The Kakslauttanen-Kiilopää area of the Saariselkä master plan has five tourism service areas (RM), which require a local detailed plan before construction can begin.
