VAMOS 2100
The objective of VAMOS 2100, a programme drawn up by Metsähallitus Forestry Ltd, is to develop silviculture and the management of forest damage risks with the aim of supporting adaptation to climate change. The programme aims to safeguard the vitality, biodiversity and productivity of forests and to help guide Forestry Ltd’s decision-making and measures over the long term.
Metsähallitus' updated Diversity, Equality and Non-discrimination Plan
Respect for human and fundamental rights underpins everything Metsähallitus does. The updated plan strengthens our commitment to a work environment in which diverse backgrounds, languages and identities are recognised and considered strengths.
Adopt hut etiquette – you may not use a camping stove in cabins
How should one behave in day-use huts and open wilderness huts to ensure safety and comfort for all? Hut etiquette provides instructions for all self-guided hikers on how to use huts and behave in huts. Additionally, most huts have a hut folder containing useful practical information and instructions related to that specific hut.
Metsähallitus will survey primary and old-growth forests during 2024–2026
The purpose of the inventory is to identify and protect primary and old-growth forests in accordance with the EU Commission definition and national criteria. Once state-owned forests have been inventoried, Parliament will decide on the areas to be protected on the basis of a government proposal.
