One Third of Finland's area
Metsähallitus, State Forest Enterprise, administers and manages almost one third of Finland’s area, including natural resources – forests, shores, waters and soil resources.
On these pages we describe Metsähallitus’ administration of state forests and how they are used and managed. For information about all of Finland’s forests, please visit the web pages maintained by the Finnish Forest Association at http://www.forest.fi
Maps
Metsähallitus’ map material is more comprehensively available via the Excursionmap.fi service and State-owned land and water areas service (only in Finnish).

Protected Areas
Protected areas help conserve the unique features and diversity of Finnish nature. Many protected areas also have national landscapes and cultural heritage sites, which must be conserved.

Cultural Heritage Sites
Metsähallitus also works to conserve cultural heritage.
