Management and Land-use Planning

Management and land-use plans are devised for the nature conservation, wilderness and hiking areas that are under Metsähallitus’ administration. With the help of these plans, the goals of nature conservation, recreational and other uses for areas are reconciled.

On the basis of basic information, the following issues, among others, are analysed in the plans:

• current state of the area
• most important values
• future development and threats
• goals of management and use
• environmental impact assessments
