Threatened Plants

In addition, Metsähallitus has the national responsibility of promoting conservation and organising monitoring of certain threatened species, or species which are mentioned in the Habitats Directive.

The plant species which Metsähallitus has extended responsibility for:

Vascular plants (20 species)

  • Alpine arnica (Arnicaangustifolia)
  • Greyleaf draba (Draba cinerea)
  • Hairy stonecrop (Sedum villosum)
  • Wideleaf polargrass (Arctagrostis latifolia)
  • Trisetum subalpestre
  • Lapland buttercup (Ranunculus lapponicus )
  • Yellow marsh saxifrage (Saxifraga hirculus)
  • English cinquefoil (Potentilla anglica)
  • Rays knotgrass (Polygonum oxyspermum)
  • Sand couch (Elymus farctus)
  • Fairy slipper (Calypso bulbosa )
  • Wall hawk's-beard (Crepis tectorum ssp. nigrescens)
  • Field sagewort (Artemisia campestris ssp. bottnica)
  • Least moonwort (Botrychium simplex)
  • Silene involucrata ssp. tenella
  • Lady's slipper (Cypripedium calceolus)
  • Arctic marshsedge (Carex holostoma)
  • Arenaria pseudofrigida
  • Fragrant shield fern (Dryopteris fragrans)
  • Hairy melick (Melica ciliata)

Mosses (3 species)

  • Orthotrichum patens
  • Scapania carinthiaca
  • Candle snuffer moss (Encalypta mutica )
