Forestry
The sale of wood from managed forests accounts for approximately 90 percent of Metsähallitus’ turnover. The biggest customers are forest industry companies operating in Finland, with whom Metsähallitus has relationships based on long-term contracts. Metsähallitus’ Forestry unit is profitable in all areas of its operations.
Metsähallitus’ commercial forest management combines ecological, economic and social sustainability. A goal of our operations is to have diverse forests, which, in addition to providing wood profitably, can also be used for outdoor activities and berry and mushroom picking. People are entitled to move about freely in commercial forests.
